BMW S1000RR Exhaust Upgrades: Best Aftermarket Systems for the Superbike

The BMW S1000RR is the benchmark production superbike — 210hp in the latest generation, class-leading electronics, and a four-cylinder sound that is already exceptional from the factory. The aftermarket exhaust on the S1000RR is therefore less about transforming a poor stock note and more about reducing weight, removing the bulky stock muffler, and unlocking the sharper sound that the engine is capable of.

This guide covers exhaust options for all S1000RR generations, with critical notes on the 2019 major revision that changed fitment entirely.

S1000RR Generations: Critical Fitment Note

The S1000RR underwent a major redesign in 2019. The two generations are NOT exhaust-compatible:

  • Pre-2019 (2009-2018): Original inline-four with conventional single-sided exhaust under the tail. Wide aftermarket range.
  • 2019+ (M1000RR platform): New ShiftCam engine, completely revised exhaust routing. Much smaller aftermarket range. Always verify 2019+ fitment explicitly.

If your bike is 2019 or later, do not order a pre-2019 S1000RR exhaust. The mounting points and link pipe dimensions are different.

Best Exhaust Options for the S1000RR

GPR M3 Titanium — Weight Reduction Priority

For the S1000RR, the GPR M3 in titanium is the preferred choice for track-focused riders. The weight saving on a superbike matters more than on a naked — removing mass from the tail improves high-speed stability and cornering inertia. EC homologated for road use with db-killer, produces a dramatically sharper sound than stock.

GPR Albus Evo4

The stainless Albus is the road-legal choice that prioritises sound and finish over maximum weight saving. Easier on the budget than titanium.

Crash Protection Combination

The S1000RR is a common track bike. Pairing an exhaust upgrade with engine case protectors and frame sliders is standard practice. Browse our crash protection range for S1000RR compatible options.

Steering Damper

At the S1000RR's power level, a steering damper is essential for track use. The stock damper is often removed when fitting aftermarket subframes — check our suspension and steering range for options.
