Toby Belgium Steering Dampers — What We Actually Stock

We stock genuine Toby Belgium steering damper substitution kits for both models:

• Yamaha MT-07 / FZ-07 (2014–2020) — around £550
• Yamaha MT-09 / FZ-09 (2014–2020) — around £550

Each is a direct-fit substitution kit engineered for that specific model's steering stem and yoke dimensions — not a universal clamp-on damper. Installation follows the same principle as other Toby kits: the damper replaces the factory arrangement using the existing mounting points.

Why a Steering Damper Matters on the MT Series

Both the MT-07 and MT-09 are light, short-wheelbase naked bikes with strong low-to-mid-range torque — exactly the combination that can produce headshake under hard acceleration out of bumpy corners, or during enthusiastic wheelies that many MT owners are known to enjoy. A steering damper doesn't fix an underlying setup issue, but it absorbs the high-frequency oscillation that can otherwise become dangerous at speed.

What We Don't Currently Stock

We do not currently have confirmed Mupo or Toby fork cartridge kits or rear shock absorbers for the MT-07 or MT-09 in our verified catalogue. If a fork or shock upgrade — rather than a steering damper — is what you're after, we'd rather tell you that honestly than list something unverified. Email us and we'll check current availability, or consider a fork spring and oil refresh as a lower-cost starting point for ride quality improvements, which is a straightforward job on both platforms' conventional forks.

Setting Up Your Steering Damper

A common mistake is setting damping too firm, which makes the bike feel heavy on turn-in. Start at the softest setting that eliminates headshake under hard acceleration, and only add damping if the bike shows instability in fast sweepers.
