Ducati Monster Crash Protection: 821, 937 and 1200 with CNC Racing
The Ducati Monster is the quintessential naked bike — exposed engine, minimal bodywork, and Italian style on full display. That exposed design makes crash protection both more important and more visually significant than on a fully faired sportsbike.
Why Crash Protection Matters More on a Naked Bike
On a faired sportsbike, a lowside in a car park mostly damages fairing panels. On the Monster, a lowside at walking pace exposes the engine cases and frame directly to the ground. A set of axle sliders and crankcase protection is cheap insurance against a repair bill that isn't.
What CNC Racing Actually Stocks for the Monster
Axle Sliders
Front wheel axle sliders cover the earlier air-cooled generation (Monster 600/620/695/696/796/S2R), and rear wheel axle spindle sliders cover the Monster 1200 /S/R from 2016–21. Both are genuine billet items designed to take ground contact in a low-speed slide, priced around £65–£90.
Crankcase Protector
A crankcase protector covering the Multistrada 1200/S and Monster 821 protects one of the most expensive components to replace if the bike goes down, at around £40.
Billet Triple Clamps
For track-focused riders, CNC Racing's billet triple clamp kit (covering Monster 620/800/1000/S2R/S4R architecture) is a serious steering geometry upgrade at a four-figure price — not a budget protection item, but a genuine performance upgrade for the earlier air-cooled Monster chassis.
Bar Risers and Trim
A bar riser (covering Monster 696/796/1100 S EVO) and carbon ABS sensor protector (covering Monster 821/1200 and Hypermotard) round out the range.
Monster Generations and Fitment — Being Precise
- Monster 821 (2013–2020): Covered by the crankcase protector and carbon ABS sensor protector.
- Monster 937 (2021+): A significant redesign with a new frame. We do not currently have CNC Racing fitment confirmed for the 937 in our verified range — if you own a 937, contact us before ordering rather than assume compatibility with older Monster parts.
- Monster 1200 (2014–2020): Covered by the rear axle spindle slider (2016–21) and crankcase protector ranges.
Older air-cooled Monsters (600–796, S2R, S4R) actually have the deepest CNC Racing coverage in our catalogue — axle sliders, bar risers and triple clamps all exist for this generation, which may surprise owners expecting the newer models to be best served.
What to Protect on a Monster
- Axle sliders: The most direct, verified protection point for most Monster generations.
- Crankcase protector: Essential for the 821-era engine's exposed casings.
- Carbon ABS sensor protector: A small, inexpensive addition for 821/1200 owners.
