Ducati Crash Protection Guide: CNC Racing Axle Sliders and Billet Protection

Why Crash Protection Matters for Ducati Owners

Ducati motorcycles are among the most desirable machines on the road — and among the most expensive to repair after a drop. A lowside at a track day or a slow-speed tip-over in a car park can cause significant damage to Ducati fairings and exposed engine cases. Fitting quality protection is one of the most cost-effective upgrades any Ducati owner can make.

What CNC Racing Actually Offers for Ducati

CNC Racing is the Italian billet specialist we stock for Ducati, and their catalogue is deep across the Panigale, Monster, and Hypermotard ranges. Rather than a single generic "frame slider," CNC Racing's Ducati protection is built from several real, distinct product families:

Axle Sliders and Spindle Protectors

Front and rear wheel axle sliders are CNC Racing's most consistent Ducati offering — available for Panigale (899/959/1199/1299), Monster (600/620/695/696/796/S2R through to 1200), and Hypermotard/Hyperstrada 821. These fit directly to the axle ends and take the brunt of a low-speed slide, typically priced from around £60–£90.

Crankcase and Clutch Fluid Cap Protectors

CNC Racing produce crankcase protectors for the Multistrada 1200/S and Monster 821, and clutch/brake fluid reservoir caps in multiple colours for the Hypermotard/Hyperstrada 821. These protect vulnerable case surfaces and are affordable additions to any protection package, typically £35–£55.

Rear Wheel Nuts and Ring Nuts

For Panigale models specifically, CNC Racing offer billet rear wheel nuts (covering 1098/1198/1199 Panigale and Diavel 1200) and coloured ring nuts — small but genuine upgrades that also tidy up the look of the wheel area.

Triple Clamps and Steering Hardware

For serious track-focused owners, CNC Racing produce adjustable billet triple clamp kits for both the Monster (620/800/1000/S2R/S4R architecture) and Hypermotard/Hyperstrada 821/939. These are a specialist, higher-cost purchase (four figures) aimed at riders dialling in steering geometry rather than casual crash protection buyers.

ABS Sensor and Carbon Trim

Carbon ABS sensor protectors are available for the Monster 821/1200 and Hypermotard, alongside broader carbon and billet trim across the range.

Fitment Notes by Model

  • Monster (821, 937, 1200): Strong CNC Racing coverage on axle sliders, crankcase protection and triple clamps for the 821/1200-era chassis. The 937 (2021+) uses a different frame — always confirm your exact year before ordering.
  • Panigale (899/959/1199/1299, V4): CNC Racing's strength here is axle protection, wheel nuts, ring nuts and billet trim rather than a bolt-through frame slider. Confirm exact fitment for V4/V4S/V4R separately — see our dedicated Panigale V4 upgrades guide.
  • Hypermotard / Hyperstrada (821, 939, 950): Excellent coverage — axle sliders, crankcase and fluid cap protectors, triple clamps, and steering head ring nuts all exist for this range.
  • Multistrada: Limited to crankcase protection in current stock. If you need broader Multistrada protection, contact us to confirm what's available before ordering.

What to Look For

  • Billet aluminium quality: CNC Racing machines from solid billet in Italy, which is reflected in both the finish and the price versus mass-produced alternatives.
  • Exact model and year fitment: Ducati's frame and axle dimensions change across generations — always confirm before ordering rather than assuming cross-model compatibility.
  • Realistic expectations: Axle sliders and case protectors reduce damage in low-speed drops; they are not a substitute for rider skill or a guarantee against damage in a high-speed crash.
