BMW Suspension and Steering Damper Guide: Mupo and Toby Belgium Options
BMW Suspension: From Roadster to Superbike
BMW Motorrad produces a wide range of respected road and sport machines, and while OEM suspension is generally competent, serious road and track riders often look to specialist suspension brands for meaningful gains. This guide covers what we can genuinely confirm in stock from Mupo and Toby Belgium for BMW models — organised honestly by what actually exists for which bike.
BMW S1000RR and S1000R — Strong Coverage
This is where our BMW suspension range is deepest and most verified:
- Toby Belgium steering damper for S1000RR (2009–2020) around £455, and for S1000R (2014–2020) around £450.
- Mupo AM1-S01 steering damper for BMW models sharing the S1000 platform fork architecture — the same product family confirmed on KTM and Aprilia applications, around £335.
- Mupo fork cartridge kits and AB1-Evo rear shocks are confirmed for the S1000RR generation range, priced from around £910 (fork cartridge) to £1,115–£1,335 (rear shock) depending on specification.
BMW GS — An Important Distinction
We want to be precise here because it matters for a bike this popular: Mupo suspension coverage for the GS range is limited to the F800GS (2008–2016) and older air/oil-head models (R1100GS, R1150GS and R1150GS Adventure). We do not currently have confirmed Mupo fork or shock products for the current liquid-cooled R1200GS or R1250GS.
What we do stock for the R1200GS is a Toby Belgium steering damper substitution kit, confirmed for both the 2008–2012 and 2014–2022 generations, priced around £520–£540. This is a steering damper, not a fork or shock upgrade — an important distinction if what you're after is ride quality or load-carrying improvement rather than headshake control.
If you ride an R1200GS or R1250GS and want a fork or rear shock upgrade, we cannot currently confirm a genuine Mupo product for that application. We'd rather tell you that directly than list something we haven't verified.

Setting Sag Before You Upgrade
Whatever your model, confirm your sag is set correctly for your weight before assuming you need new hardware — many bikes leave the factory with suspension that's mechanically fine but incorrectly adjusted for the actual rider.
