It's a mechanical stop between throttle control and brake lever.
Avoids that an accidental contact with an opponent, in full throttle condition, causes a certain crash.

    No hand constrictions.
    No sharpen spikes in case of crash and slide.

CATS has been created and developed by an ex driver, not by a marketing office.

CATS is not able to protect driver in any kind of contact.
During breaking it doesn't work, but: in this moment contacts are very hard so neither a full hand cover, like in motocross, can     prevent driver crash. Load on contact is so strong to move the handlebar too, not only to break and, consequently, the crash is     quite sure. To be noticed that these crashes occurs at low speed. 

CATS aim is to protect accidental and unexpected contacts, i.e. on starting phase and on straights or when 2 opponents are one behind  the other and very near to each other. In these situations speed is very high and damages to drivers and bikes can be very serious.
    
A system like full hand cover, could prevent even soft touch during deceleration but the hand is “closed” and, in case of crash could be “locked”. Moreover, a full hand cover could brake, becoming a dangerous sharpen edge very risky for the driver and others. For these reasons, full cover systems are not used in track speed competitions.
    
CATS, instead, protect without locking and this is a good advantage.
    
In MotoGP events, the CATS could have prevent the crash in 125 to Efren Vazquez in Motegi race or Simoncelli-Barbera in Mugello's 2 years ago race. 
    
CATS is simple, not disturbing, and, sometimes, can prevent crash.
